Healer Certification Training at FourWinds Academy
Pilot Program
The mission and vision of FourWinds Academy is to train professional Healers.
For 11 years we have provided opportunities for our students to learn healing skills.
Now, in 2010, we would like to ascertain whether we are ready to institute an actual
Healer Certification Training at FourWinds Academy.
Proposal
To set up a 10 month pilot program for training healers at FourWinds Academy.
To meet 2 weekends per month, Friday nights 5:30 – 9pm. and Saturday mornings 9am- 1pm.,
all dates to be set in advance, September 2010 – June 2011.
Purpose
To integrate the healing techniques learned at weekend trainings into a substantial platform for professional practice via in-depth
and consistent exploration over a sustained period of time.
For Whom
3 categories of people:
1. Practicing Healers who wish to refine and consolidate their skills through deeper exploration and mentoring, and who desire certification.
2. Candidates who have done numerous (6 plus) weekend trainings, but only occasionally give healing sessions, and would like to certify and practice as Healers.
3. Candidates who have done some weekend trainings (fewer than 6) and would like to follow an integrated, guided path to becoming a Healer.
Why a Pilot Program?
We need to investigate the process of training a healer, ascertaining the advantageous methods of training, the process of
learning to become a healer and investigate realistic expectations and standards.
At this time, the following are unknown:
To be effective:
What academic knowledge does a Healer need?
What practical knowledge does a Healer need?
How long does it take to assimilate this knowledge?
What is the best way to acquire this knowledge?
What is the realistic standard to set for considering a Healer ready to certify?
Subjects
The training would include:
Development of intuitive skills
Knowledge of each chakra, and each layer of the chakra, ranging from the physical and physiological components,
through the emotional, mental and spiritual components
Energy healing techniques, skill and application
Vibrational healing tools, such as crystals, sound and essential oils
Mental and physical training such as meditation techniques, yoga and qigong
Evaluating when to make a referral and to whom
Remote healing techniques
How to begin and build a Healing Practice
Evaluation and assessment of skills
Prerequisites
Interest and dedication to becoming a Healer
Attendance at a minimum number of weekend trainings*
Appropriate life experience and/or previous academic training
Letter of recommendation from a teacher/mentor
*Examples of weekend trainings include: Medical Intuition 101 with Anita Owens, Crystal Surgery 1 & 2 with Vivien Schapera,
Shamanic Training Level 1 with Neil Schapera, Melody Level 1&2 with Barbara Jackson, Reiki with Francine Haydon.
Credits would also be allocated for attendance at Pat Zimmerman’s Metaphysics and Ascension Classes, Beth Kennedy’s Asian Deities class, attendance at FWA Healing Circles.
Non-FWA Instructors and Trainings: Our region is extremely rich in Metaphysical teachers.
Classes and trainings offered by other instructors, such as Patti Kessler and Gene Jackson, would also earn credits,
and all trainings offered throughout the country can be considered for earning prerequisite training credits.
Sample Class
A 3 – 4 hour session would consist of the following components:
Skill training
Supervised practice
Academic knowledge
Philosophical and spiritual exploration
Presentations and discussions
Tuition
The proposed tuition for the pilot program is in the region of $180/month.
This is an estimate and is subject to modification depending on the number of people who are willing to commit,
and the costs of administration, rent, utilities and instructor stipends.
Why do the Pilot Program?
1. Pioneering spirit – get in on the ground floor and participate in a historic development
2. Leadership -- help mold the future training
3. Rich Experience –the pilot program will be less streamlined than the eventual training, including a wider range of exploration and experimentation,
and will therefore be experientially richer for the participants.
4. Cost-Effective – the tuition for the pilot program will be as low as possible whereas tuition for the developed training
will be more in line with accepted tuition fees for professional training.
5. Future Instructor – future instructors for the Certification training will be drawn from graduates who have gone through the process themselves.
Will participants be certified healers at the end of 10 months of training? To be honest, we can’t answer that – that is what we’re trying to find out.
However, if not, a projection will be made as to how much longer is needed, and such training will be provided. In other words, if we begin, we will commit to finishing.
Who decides? EVERYONE involved will have a voice – that is the point of the pilot program. The instructors, the participants and the “practice clients” will all give input.
How can I put trust in something that is not fully formed?
The visionary, Vivien Schapera, has been working toward establishing this course for 11 years, with the inception of FourWinds
Academy in 1999. This pilot program represents the next logical step, coming on a solid foundation of hard work and experience.
Whilst Vivien is qualified and experienced enough to set up a Healer Certification Training and claim that “this is it” she would prefer
to research the methods and standards via the pilot program.
The most important qualification that Vivien has, is that she is currently Director of an Alexander Training Course, and has been training
Alexander Teachers since 1983. There is a great deal of overlap in the following aspects of Alexander training and Healer training:
Experiential and Practical training must be emphasized
Development of self and potential must be an integral part
Academic and theoretical knowledge, whilst essential, must be presented with a view to application
Insight into strengths and limitations of the modality must be developed
Confidence in one’s self as a practitioner
Society at large doesn’t understand the service
Lack of official employment channels – must become self-employed
Training for Out-of-Towners
In the future we would like to also create a course that can be attended by people who do not live in the region of Cincinnati.
However, first steps first – once we have done the pilot program we will have more of the insight and experience necessary
to begin constructing a course where the academic and theoretical training can be done online,
and the practical training can be done on a quarterly basis in person.
Interest Level
We need to determine the following:
